MANS Celebrates 125 Years with Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Customers
The Mans family was humbled and honored to be joined by more than 1,200 of our closest friends, colleagues, team members, vendors, and everyone in the extended “Mans family” to formally and officially celebrate our 125 years working together to leave everything we touch better than we found it .
In a casually elegant evening at Shed 3 in Eastern Market, friendly faces from miles around southeastern Michigan (and many from out of the state as well!) gathered to join us in what can only be described as a celebration of cooperation, collaboration, and commitment—to each other and the families we provide shelter for. After all, as MANS Lumber and Home President Doug Mans often emphasizes, “We’re not in the lumber business…we’re in the shelter business:”
A Night for the Ages
On a warm, gorgeous, early-Autumn evening, arriving guests were treated to an open-door gala inviting the outdoors in (as we home designers like to say). The spacious venue was filled with the delightful sounds of The Bluewater Kings, who played everything from timeless classics to contemporary favorites (fitting, perhaps, for a 125th birthday party!). Attendees enjoyed cocktails and strolling hors d’oeuvres , as they meandered throughout the space, mingling with old friends and strolling past exhibits chronicling our nearly 13-decade history in metro Detroit.
Delectable culinary stations throughout kept the hungry visitors satisfied, giving way only temporarily to provide time for Doug Mans to deliver some brief remarks of gratitude and humble appreciation.
Before night’s end, guests had been entertained by a traveling magician, partaken in cigar rolling for those who enjoy an elegant puff, and even were regaled by some more lively music and dancing! A surprise performance by the Detroit Pop-Up Marching Band was the proverbial icing on the cake, on a night that begged for “rah-rah” moments such as those that only a marching band can capture.
For the Mans family, it is an evening we will never forget. “There have been countless memorable moments and milestones over the years,” Doug points out, “but this occasion, on this night, in this venue, with so many friends and family here celebrating with us…this is a night that will go down in history as one of the seminal moments in MANS Lumber and Home lore.”
Thank you to all who joined us for this very special, momentous occasion. We could not have made it 125 years without each and every one of you. And we will most certainly need your continued support as we charge ahead into the next century and beyond. Keep up the outstanding work, everyone! And let’s never forget our collective calling: to leave everything we touch better than we found it!
Keep on building…
